Network of journalists promoting gender equality will be established in Kazakhstan
As an outcome of the seminar, it is expected to create a pool of journalists sensitized on gender matters.
The event is organized by the UNDP project "Supporting the National Commission for Women affairs and family-demographic policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in its efforts to further improve gender equality in the Republic of Kazakhstan" which targets effective implementation of the Strategy for Gender Equality in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2006-2016, the press service of the UNDP in Kazakhstan reports.
"In achieving equality between men and women, including at the decision-making levels, the cornerstone issues are to raise public awareness and overcome the stereotypes. Media plays an essential role in this process. By promoting training and discussion, we want to help Kazakhstani journalists to network in promoting gender equality which is a prerequisite for a sustainable development, "said Project manager Mira Yespenova.
