Nazarbayev suggests holding conference of Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism in Astana

WASHINGTON. April 13. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ "Our contribution to realization of the Nuclear Summit's decisions is a proposal to hold a conference of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism in Astana this June", President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has said at the first session of the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington today.
"Recently we have seen real progress in the field of nuclear nonproliferation, disarmament and security. New US Nuclear Doctrine was adopted. We must sincerely congratulate presidents Barack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev on signing of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty. This historic step should be supported by all countries and be an example", N. Nazarbayev noted.
The Kazakh leader emphasized that the work on reduction of nuclear arsenals should not be stopped until their complete elimination for the sake of peace.
