Nazarbayev suggests establishing SCO Emergencies Center in Kazakhstan

TASHKENT. June 11. KAZINFORM /Kurmat Samarkhan/ At today's SCO Summit in Tashkent President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has suggested creating the SCO Center for mitigation of consequences of emergency situations in Kazakhstan.
"Due to the recent increase in the frequency of natural and manmade disasters and readiness of the SCO member states to render aid to each other in such situations, we consider the establishment of the SCO Center on mitigation of consequences of emergency situations in Kazakhstan will allow to increase the level of protection against natural disasters", the Kazakh leader said.
Besides, N. Nazarbayev paid special attention to the issue of information security. In this regard, the President proposed to hold consultations for developing a mechanism of ensuring information security in the SCO area in 2011.
