Nazarbayev's initiatives contribute to development of East-West dialog - Head of Austria's Catholic Church

Special attention at the meting was paid to the constructive role of major world religions in our country. The diplomat told the Cardinal about the interreligious and international policy of the Kazakh President, main directions of the internal and foreign policy of Kazakhstan, the Nazarbayev's initiatives on holding of the Congress of World and Traditional Religions' Leaders. He also informed of the results of the III Congress held this summer in Astana.

He congratulated our country on the oncoming OSCE chairmanship and expressed confidence that multi-confessional Kazakhstan would continue development of mutual understanding among all world and traditional religions and confessions.

According to him, the Kazakh President's initiatives greatly contribute to the development of dialog between East and West and preservation of stability in the region. "Kazakhstan possesses potential to become a world center of interreligious cooperation", he said.
