Nazarbayev in favor of nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan
"We should decide on the location, investment sources, and the deadline for the construction of the fourth oil refinery and a nuclear power plant," said Nursultan Nazarbayev in his annual address to the people of Kazakhstan.
Nazarbayev called upon the people to get rid of the Fukusima syndrome and develop nuclear power engineering. "We should remember about the prospects of development of nuclear engineering. In the future the need for cheap nuclear energy will be increasing. The Fukusima syndrome is another issue. Where tsunamis occur, earthquakes happen. Nuclear energy will be in demand as it is a clean kind of energy. We should not fall behind," Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
The President emphasized that Kazakhstan is one of the leading countries with regard to uranium extraction. The country should develop its own production of uranium fuel and build nuclear power plants, BelTA reports.
