Nauryz celebrations consistent with Islamic traditions

ASTANA. KAZINFORM "Nauryz celebrations are consistent with Islamic traditions," chief mufti of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Mayamerov said.
"I congratulate all Kazakhstanis on Nauryz meiramy. This year it falls on Friday. It is quite symbolic. I wish Kazakhstanis peace and stability. Nauryz is not a religious holiday, it is a national one. But our religion does not go against any national holidays. We have been marking it for hundreds of years," he said at today's Nauryz celebrations in Astana.
