NATO, Pakistan held top-level consultations

SSELS. May 21. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ On May 19-20 Deputy Assistant Secretary General of NATO for Security Cooperation and Partnership Robert Simmons visited Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan, where top-level consultations between the NATO and Pakistan took place.

In particular, Mr. Simmons met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Salman Bashir, Minister of Defense Sayed Athar Ali and other top officials of Pakistan.
In the course of the meeting the representative of the NATO highly appraised Pakistan's efforts in fighting with extremism and expressed gratitude for fruitful cooperation in stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan. Besides, issues of regional and military cooperation, control over armament and struggle against terrorism were discussed.
Following the meeting the parties agreed to hold such meetings regularly for deepening the relations between Pakistan and NATO and for effective solution of the security issues in the region.
