NATO consults Turkmenistan in radioactive waste

ASHGABAT. June 11. KAZINFORM. NATO delegation arrived in Ashgabat to discuss safe transportation and keeping of radioactive waste, national TV channel Altin Asir said on June 11; Kazinform refers to Trend News.

It should be noted that military doctrine was approved in Turkmenistan. Its task remained unchanged within last years - defense sufficiency, policy of positive neutrality and refusal from participation in military-political blocs. Cooperation with NATO is held within long-term program Partnership for the sake of peace. This program calls for assisting the country to solve problems on environment and people's health protection. Today local television said that Turkmenistan as dynamically developing state had to face such problems accompanying economic and industrial growth. "Though the country does not have its own production based on use of radioactive substances, their elements can be kept in used equipment." Turkmen television said that special equipment was received for several industrial enterprises of Turkmenistan under technical and consultative support of NATO specialists.
