National museum opens doors on the eve of Astana Day
The materials and exhibits of the museum will cover the period since the ancient era to the modern history of Kazakhstan. The museum will open 14 halls. Great attention will be paid to the period of Sakas (Scythians) and Huns, and the achievements and development of our capital. By the instruction of the President, the Ministry of Culture has centralised all regional museums into one; the National Museum will serve as the central element. It will be one of the largest in the world, not only in size, but also in regard to content. The museum will include 14 rooms. The museum will accommodate several expositions, including the Museum of Astana, the Independent Kazakhstan Museum, the History Museum, the Museum of Gold and Precious Metals and the Museum of Modern Art. Space for a children's museum, temporary exhibitions, restoration workshops, laboratories, storage facilities and collection rooms, as well as a library with a reading room, an internet cafe and souvenir stalls. Furthermore, the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Ethnographic Museum (REM) and the State Museum and Exhibition Center "ROSIZO" will sign memorandum of cooperation. The event will be attended by heads of museums of Russia, China, USA, UK, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and others. "Journey along the Silk Road" program will be carried out for visitors of the museum. The entire territory of the museum will be divided into sections - improvised medieval towns through which the Silk Road run: Turkestan, Sauran, Ispijab, Taraz, Syganak, Akmeshit, Otrar, and Suyab.
