Naryshkin: Extremism from abroad is main threat to CSTO countries
"The current global situation is instable. Chaos is approaching our borders. The main threat to our countries is extremism imposed from the outside," Sergei Naryshkin said.
In his words, given these conditions the development of a safe space in the CSTO is of prime importance. "Together our states have been successfully strengthening their defense capacities. Together we counteract different threats, be it terrorism, trafficking in drugs and human beings," the CSTO PA Chairman stressed, BelTA reports.
According to Sergei Naryshkin, the development of the Eurasian Economic Union will contribute to the strengthening of the defense capacity of the CSTO member states. "The CSTO and EEU complement and enhance each other. The Parliamentary Assembly should take into account this potential multiplying effect in its work. Moreover, the new realities necessitate boosting parliamentary cooperation in the CSTO," he said.
