Murat Nurtleu: Luxembourg - important partner of Kazakhstan in EU
As part of his official visit to Luxembourg, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu met Prime Minister of Luxembourg Luc Frieden, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Luxembourg views Kazakhstan as an important partner in Central Asia given significant potential of business cooperation, the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry says.
Prime Minister of Luxembourg Luc Frieden expressed readiness to support the Kazakh side in its striving to modernize the key sectors of economy and to introduce advanced technologies.
In turn, the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan emphasized that Luxembourg had been an important partner of Kazakhstan in the European Union. Since 2005, the volume of foreign direct investment to Kazakhstan economy has reached $2.9 billion.
The parties discussed the interaction between Kazakhstan and the European Union emphasizing the importance of expanding trade-economic ties as well as cooperation in the issues of security and stability in Central Asia.
The sides also exchanged views on the pressing issues of the international agenda.
Murat Nurtleu also met Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel.
The parties discussed the major issues of the bilateral cooperation as well as promising areas such as financial technologies, sustainable development through "green" energy, pharmaceutics, and transport infrastructure projects. The sides confirmed the necessity to deepen economic ties and expand the opportunities for the two countries' business communities.
Earlier, Murat Nurtleu met the European Investment Bank president and heads of major European companies. One of the companies plans to provide internet to 328 villages of Kazakhstan.
