Multiculturalism means showing respect to other cultures, UNESCO rep

ASTANA. May 30. KAZINFORM "Multiculturalism means knowing and showing respect to history of other nations," UNESCO representative Katherine Stenou said at the 4th World and Traditional Religions Leaders' Congress at the Palace of Independence in Astana.
"We should know the message of other religions and cultures. This is what we are trying to do at the UNESCO," she noted.
According to her, more than 100 000 objects, 12 per cent of which are of religious character, are featured into the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List. The UNESCO is to determine when these elements of various cultures will become the treasury of humankind and why they are protected by all people, not individual societies.
