Moscow to host next meeting of CIS Council of Heads of State

Moscow will host the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State on October 8 next year, Kazinform Agency correspondent reports.

A meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State chaired under Kyrgyzstan took place in Bishkek today. The event was attended by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, Vladimir Putin of Russia, Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow of Turkmenistan, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan.

The meeting began with a ceremony of welcoming the Heads of the member states of the CIS Council. A meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in a narrow and closed format took place after the photo-op.

Later, the meeting in expanded format took place during which Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia would assume the CIS presidency next year and that Moscow would host the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State on October 8, 2024.

During the event, the CIS countries’ leaders signed the document to establish the international Russian Language Organization.

As earlier reported, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had been welcomed by his Kyrgyz counterpart President Sadyr Zhaparov at the Ala Archa State Residence in Bishkek.
