Moscow hosts CSTO consultations on disarmament, non-proliferation, arms control
"The parties had a constructive exchange of opinions on the major issues on the disarmament agenda," said the spokesman. "One of the key issues was the forthcoming Review Conference on the Treaty on Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and coordination of action in international organization on the issues of nuclear non-proliferation, including the IAEA. The parties also discussed the coordination and cooperation between the CSTO member states in other relevant international organizations," Vladimir Zainetdinov said.
The parties stressed the desirability of the active participation of the CSTO member states in the international efforts towards disarmament, non-proliferation and arms control and noted the need for closer cooperation and more effective interaction among the CSTO member states in international disarmament organizations.
The participants noted the usefulness of the consultations and called for further coordination of the approaches of the CSTO member states to practical work on disarmament, non-proliferation and arms control.
The consultations were attended by representatives of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan, BelTA reports.
