More than 300 fatal work injuries recorded in Kazakhstan last year

  ASTANA. February 1. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ The number of occupational accidents in Kazakhstan did not reduced in 2011, Minister of Labor and Social Protection Gulshara Abdykalikova told a board meeting of her ministry on Wednesday.

According to her, the number of those injured at work was 2 247, including 332 cases with lethal outcomes.

The Ministry plans to carry out measures to protect personnel and improve working conditions. First of all, it is planned to develop and introduce a system of assessment and management of professional risks, based on prevention, detection of risk to life and health of personnel at work. Second, it is planned to increase the responsibility of the employer for occupational safety. Third, it is expected to tighten requirements for certification of workplaces. Fourth, it is planned to improve the system of insurance of workers against accidents. And, fifth, it is necessary to monitor social satisfaction in the workforce, develop constructive relationship between the executive authorities, employers and labor unions.
