Monument honoring Abai to be unveiled in Kazan
A monument to the great Kazakh poet, educator, founder of Kazakh written literature Abai Kunanbayuly is scheduled to be unveiled on the final day of the BRICS Summit in Kazan on October 24, Kazinform News Agency reports.
It is anticipated that the Kazakh delegation will participate in the monument's inaugural ceremony. The monument has already been installed in one of the city’s squares, however, it is currently covered in a protective film prior to the scheduled ceremony.
Recall that President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the solemn opening ceremony of a monument to Abai in Ashgabat on October 10.
It also bears to remind that the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan held an opening of a new Scientific and Educational Center for Kazakh Language and Culture named after Abai at the Kazan Federal University's Institute of Philology and Intercultural Communication on May 16,2024.
