Mongolian opposition protests against dismissal of two congressmen

On Wednesday, the General Election Committee (GEC) decided to disqualify two congressmen of the Mongolian People's Party (MPP), the biggest opposition force in the country, accusing them of violating laws during this June's parliamentary elections, according to Xinhua.
The GEC also said the two congressmen will be replaced by candidates of the Democratic Party in the central Uvurkhangai constituency.
Protestors shouted slogans and upheld banners in front of the State Palace, where sits the parliament, saying that the GEC's decision was illegal and unfair.
All entrances of the parliament are now blocked by protestors, in order to prevent government officials and parliamentarians from entering.
Senior MPP officials, including former Deputy Prime Minister M.Enkhbold and MPP's Secretary-General Gombojav Zandanshatar, are among the demonstrators.
Organizers warned that if the election authority and the parliament refuse to change their decision, they would launch an indefinite hunger strike soon.
