CHISINAU. October 4. KAZINFORM Moldova's ex-president Vladimir Voronin heads the list of candidates from the Communist Party for the early parliamentary elections on November 28; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
At its meeting the party's leadership approved the list of the first ten candidates, the party's press service said on Sunday.
Aside from Voronin this list also includes ex-premier Zinaida Greceanii and former economics minister Igor Dodon.
In July 2009 the Communist Party that had been ruling the country for eight years lost the early parliamentary elections. The Liberal Party, the Liberal-Democratic Party, the Democratic Party and Our Moldova alliance that scored 53 of the 101 parliamentary seats formed the parliamentary majority.
However, 61 parliamentary votes are necessary to elect the president. The communists used this advantage and managed to call the new elections; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
