Minsk-based embassies of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan mark Nowruz
The event was organized by the embassies of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. Alexander Mikhnevich underlined that this holiday celebrates spring and the diversity of oriental cultures.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus Ergali Bulegenov noted that this is the fourth time the International Day of Nowruz has been celebrated. The diplomat noted that in 2010 the UN General Assembly decided to mark this ancient holiday every year on 21 March.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to Belarus Kozidavlat Koimdodov emphasized that the number of people celebrating this holiday increases year to year, including in Belarus.
According to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Belarus Murad Yazberdiyev, Nowruz is a long-awaited and jolly holiday, BelTA reports.
Nowruz traces its roots to Ancient Iran. It emerged over 3,000 years ago within the Zoroastrian religion. Nowruz is the most ancient farming holiday. It symbolizes the end of winter, celebrates the renewal of the earth and marks the beginning of a new farming cycle.
