Ministry of Industry and New Technologies to implement largest in CIS project in energy

ASTANA. June 7. KAZINFORM Kazakh Ministry of Industry and New Technologies has signed a memorandum of mutual understanding with Korea Electric Power Corporation and Samsung C&T Corporation, Kazinform refers to the Ministry's press service.
The document regulates strategic partnership and cooperation in the sphere of wind and solar energy in Kazakhstan.
The Korean consortium develops a project on construction of wind and solar power plants in Kazakhstan with total capacity of 1 GW (preliminary plan: 950 MW of wind and 50 MW of solar energy).
According to preliminary calculations, USD 2.5- USD 2.8 mln will be needed for implementation of the project in the country.
The project is called to become the largest one in the CIS in renewable energy sphere. The scale of joint work will allow attracting the global produces of equipment and launching the production in Kazakhstan which in turn, will lead to creation of jobs and professional upgrading of the local personnel.
