Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan plans to reduce planting acreage of wheat by 235 thousand ha

ASTANA. KAZAKHSTAN - The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan plans to reduce the planting acreage of wheat by 235 ha, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Saparkhan Omarov told at the enlarged sitting of the board of the ministry.

"According to the preliminary estimations of the country's regions, agricultural crops are expected to be planted in the territory of 21.5 million ha in 2015. Grain crops will be planted in the territory of 15.2 million ha including 12.1 million ha allocated for the wheat. Besides, the acreage used for planting of the wheat is expected to be reduced by 235 thousand ha," S. Omarov said. Besides, the acreage for planting rice will be cut by 8.5 thousand ha, acreage for planting oil-bearing crops is expected to be planted in the territory of 2.2 million ha, vegetables and gourds and potatoes will be planted in the territory of 414 thousand ha.
