Minister of Transport and Communications held conference with KTZ chief officers
Vice President of KTZ Yermek Kizatov presented a report on the Company's activity in 2010 and the major objectives for 2011.
According to him, since 2009 cargo transportation has risen by 8% and passenger transportation - by 8.4%. Labor productivity has increased by 22%. Corporate management rating has been raised too. The Company continues implementing the integrated system of management, purchasing passenger cars, locomotives and electric locomotives.
KTZ plans to build 105 train stations at small settlements and conduct capital repair of 154 train stations in 2011-2012. A new logistics model of passenger transportation is developed now. By the 20th anniversary of Kazakhstan's independence, KTZ plans to open the traffic at Korgas-Zhetygen and Uzen-state border with Turkmenistan railway lines.
Summing up the conference, the Minister gave several tasks to the Company. Thus, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy must develop the international transport corridors, elaborate a concept of development of logistics, lower the administrative barriers and increase the domestic content in its public procurement. Besides, as B. Kamaliyev noted, the Company should launch certain measures to develop cooperation with Estonia in transport sector.
