Military training in US educational institutions important for Kazakhstan -Defence Minister
During the bilateral meeting between the defense ministers of Kazakhstan and the United States under discussion were the current state and prospects of development of military and military- technical cooperation.
"The United States of America for Kazakhstan is a strategic partner. Regular meetings between the leaders of Kazakhstan and the United States, as well as the common understanding of the issues of strengthening peace and stability contribute to deepening of relations between our two countries. One of the important aspects of cooperation is mutual activity in the military sphere", said A.Dzhaksybekov.
Currently, defense cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States has a long-term nature and is based on a five-year cooperation plan for 2013-2017, which was signed in Washington, DC, in November 2012 . Kazakh- American military cooperation is developing in areas such as peacekeeping and military education.
The parties discussed the issues of stability and security in Afghanistan and Central Asia. Defense Minister noted that Kazakhstan is actively participating and supporting international efforts to stabilize Afghanistan.
"At the initiative of the President of the country Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan provides economic and humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan. We also support other countries in the region to improve their defense and security under the counter possible threats", said the Minister of Defense.
In turn, the Minister of Defense Charles Hagel noted the great contribution of Kazakhstan to stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan. He also expressed the interest of the American side to continue cooperation with the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan in training, joint exercises, as well as cooperation in the military-industrial complex.
"The armed forces of the United States have good experience in professionalization of the army, and in this regard we need to exchange our experience in the conduct of personnel policy, the method of recruitment, the study of the features of the budget planning and social welfare. Of course, any conversion depends on human resources, and for us it is important to train Kazakh servicemen in the U.S. educational institutions. We are interested in cooperation of American and Kazakh military schools, and are willing to collaborate in the field of military science ", said A.Dzhaksybekov.
The defense ministers also discussed the development of relations in the field of military-industrial complex.
The Minister of Defence of Kazakhstan has invited representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the military- industrial companies in the U.S. to take part in the international exhibition called "KADEX- 2014".
Kazakh military delegation met with representatives of the leading companies in the military-industrial complex, such as General Atomics, Boeing Defense, OshKosh, Lockheed Martin, Sikorsky and others. The head of the Kazakh delegation A.Dzhaksybekov had with them a number of bilateral meetings to discuss issues of mutual cooperation.
On the same day with the participation of the Minister of Defense at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in the United States (CSIS) there was held a "round table", which discussed the possible scenarios of events in Afghanistan and the region after the withdrawal of coalition forces from this country.
