Military-technical coop program contracts with Russia will be concluded with no tenders, Kazakh Defense Ministry

ASTANA. March 20. KAZINFORM - The Majilis has approved "On ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Russian Federation on the development and implementation of joint projects in the sphere of military-technical cooperation to the armed forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation" draft law.

"The presented Agreement defines the procedure for the development and implementation of joint activities in the field of military-technical cooperation in the interests of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation to improve the efficiency of the supply of military products, equipping with modern weapons, military hardware and conducting activities to their modernization and repair", said the Deputy Minister of Defense Sergei Gromov when presenting the bill.

According to him the formation of bilateral medium-term programs in the sphere of military-technical collaboration will promote the development of the military-industrial complex, and raise the defense of Kazakhstan. Financial security issues will be addressed to and agreed upon in line with the national legislation while developing and realizing specific programs.

S.Gromov noted that Article 4 of the Agreement provides that the competent authorities or bodies of the parties, when awarding contracts under the program are exempt from the procedures related to the tenders for public procurement of goods, works and services.
