Military plane with top brass aboard crashes in northern Laos

VIENTAINE. KAZINFORM - A Laos air force plane has crashed in the north of the country with senior military officers and officials on board, RIA Novosti reported, citing a source in the nation's Defense Ministry.
The plane had a total of 14 people on board, among them the defense minister and his wife, as well as the minister of public security and the mayor of the country's capital Vientaine.
The crash happened as the flight was on its way to Xiangkhouang province to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the second division of the Lao People's Army, the source said.
All of the celebrations were canceled following the accident, including the military parade.
