The event was held within the framework of the university's plan on promotion of the Kazakh President's Address to the Nation "New Decade - New Economic Growth - New Opportunities of Kazakhstan".

Speaking about the OSCE and its role in environmental protection Mr. Stevenson noted that the organization appeared on the world arena as the largest organization for security.

"Undoubtedly, President Nazarbayev is ideal for implementation of this task. He is a builder. For less than two decades he transformed Kazakhstan into a stronger country in Central Asia. He built a new exciting capital - Astana. He built Kazakhstan's international reputation as a multinational and multi-confessional state, whose people live in intercultural and interethnic harmony. In this context I fully agree with the fact that Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE is an exceptional opportunity to tackle global problems as economic recession, struggle against extremism and terrorism, Afghanistan conflict and problems of freedom, democracy and human rights", S. Stevenson emphasized.
