Meetings held for Kim Jong Il birthday in N Korea

PYONGYANG. February 11. KAZINFORM Solemn meetings and rallies are held these days in all North Korean regions on the occasion of Kim Jong Il's birthday that will be celebrated on February 16 and is one of the main public holidays in the country; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
"The birth of Kim Jong Il on the sacred revolution Mount Paektu (Baekdu) was a happy event for the Korean nation and humankind," it was noted at a meeting of farm workers and the Women's Union North Korea in Pyongyang on Thursday. "Under his wise leadership," speakers said, "the great march for improving the living standards of the Korean people initiated by President Kim Il Sung, continues in the country."
A large-scale photo exhibition depicting "immortal exploits of Kim Jong Il, who wholly devoted himself to building a prosperous state, strengthening of independence and reunification of the motherland," has opened in Pyongyang on the occasion of the forthcoming holiday; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
