Measures of Kazakh Government effective against economic crisis

KAZINFORM /Narymbek Ismagulov/ The measures taken by the Kazakh Government are completely reasonable as they helped to bound negative influence of the crisis on the economy, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Dominique Strauss-Kahn told about it today in Astana, Kazinform reports.

The representative of the IMF has met with Prime-Minister of Kazakhstan Karim Massimov, reps of the religious concessions of Kazakhstan today during his visit to the capital of Kazakhstan. ?This is my first visit to Kazakhstan. I would like to thank the people of Kazakhstan, Prime-Minister of Kazakhstan and leading workers of the economic block for the open and substanstial discussion of issues and for hospitality?, - he said. «I had a chance to discuss the issue of the global crisis, its impact upon Central Asia and the outlooks for the soonest economic rise with numerous representatives of the public community at the Academy of Public Administration. One of the conclusions is that we should not underestimate the meaning of the interregional trade and economic cooperation for the prosperity and stability in the region», - Strauss-Kahn said. At the meeting with the Prime Minister he pointed out: ?The currency policy of Kazakhstan is relevant and must be continued until the problems in the financial sector are resolved. Afterwards it will be possible to get back to the policy of flexible exchange rates», - he said «On the whole I welcome the active measures taken by the authorities of Kazakhstan to tackle the crisis. They can surely mitigate the crisis consequences. You should continue the policy of economic growth and employment and the Fund is ready to assist Kazakhstan in ensuring high living standards of the population», - Strauss-Kahn added.
