Mayor of Almaty participates in Cities for Mobility International Congress

ALMATY. June 16. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ The International Congress Cities for Mobility took place yesterday in Stuttgart, (Germany). Mayor of Almaty city Akhmetzhan Yessimov spoke at the Congress; the press-service of Akimat informs.
Like many large cities of the former Soviet Union, Almaty does not have a modern system of urban transport, A. Yessimov noted. The transport density makes Almaty be among the largest cities of the world ? 500 motovehicles per 1 000 people . In Stuttgart there are 600 motovehicles per 1 000 people.
?We do our best to resolve the transport and environmental problems in our city. Next year we will launch a metro, new traffic intersections are already under construction?, - he emphasized.
As is known Cultural Days of Almaty has already begun in Stuttgart on June, 14.
