Massimov chairs session on EITI implementation

The Kazakh Parliament deputies, representatives of state bodies, national companies, enterprises-subsoil users and NGOs took part in the session. Members of the National Council on EITI in Kazakhstan informed the Prime Minister of the course of the Kazakhstan?s validation process within the framework of the Initiative introduction and necessary measures on its activation. In particular, the participants discussed the issues of gratuitousness or binding normative regulation of the extractive industries joining the EITI, social payments and contributions within the framework of contractual commitments of subsoil users and etc. The National Council members and NGO representatives emphasized that owing to the Government?s interest in the EITI promotion in Kazakhstan significant progress is seen. Following the results of the session the Prime Minister charged heads of the ministries and departments jointly with the NGO to work out all the issues connected with completion of Kazakhstan?s validation process within the framework of the EITI introduction in 2010 and make proposals on extension of enterprises-subsoil users? participation in the Initiative implementation to the upcoming session of the Foreign Investors Council under the Kazakhstan President.
