Marriages with Russian citizens make 50% of international marriages in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. September 30. KAZINFORM. Marriages effected between Kazakhstan and Russian citizens make 50 percent of international marriages among Kazakhs and foreign nationals, with Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan going next in this list. Zaida Nurabayeva, Chief of the Department of civil status act registration under the Justice Ministry informed today at the seminar on statelessness problems in Kazakhstan.
"Lately there have increased marriages contracted with Turkmenistan citizens, who in their majority are ethnic Kazakhs", Zaida Nurabayeva says. Germans and Turkish lead in statistics of international marriages with far abroad nationals. As Nurabayeva notes, a lot of Germans repatriated to their historic homeland after Kazakhstan gained independent status. Kazakhstan and Turkey have close business relations and a lot of mutual projects are being carried through on the territory of Kazakhstan.
