Mangistau Customs initiate criminal case over smuggling

AKTAU. July 26. KAZINFORM Officers of the Department of Customs Control of Mangistau region have started a criminal investigation into smuggling of marijuana, which was found at the customs post called "Temir-baba" on the Kazakh-Turkmen border in the course of customs control of people crossing the border of the Customs Union.

During the search of «Mitsubishi Pojero» vehicle heading for Kazakhstan from Turkmenistan, driven by a 32-year-old citizen of Turkmenistan, a resident of the Balkan velayat, a sniffer dog named Kokzhal found a paper parcel in the back pocket of the driver's seat, where there was powdered green stuff.

"According to the expert's opinion the substance detected is a narcotic, marijuana. The total weight of the seized drugs was 1.99 grams. Given the evidence against a citizen of the Republic of Turkmenistan was opened criminal investigation into the crime under Part 1 of Art. 250 of the Criminal Code "Contraband of subjects withdrawn from circulation or subjects with restricted circulation", informs the head of risk analysis and statistics of Customs Control Department of the Mangistau region Maksat Akmuratov.
