Man sentenced to 10 years for bribery in S. Kazakhstan

ASTANA. October 10. KAZINFORM - A man who offered a bribe to the deputy chairman of the Committee for Control of Education and Science, Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. This has been announced today at a press briefing by the spokesman for the Agency for Combating Economic and Corruption Crimes (Financial Police ) Murat Zhumanbay.

The man was convicted of committing bribery in the amount of 50 thousand dollars. His aim was to be appointed to the position of Director of the Department for Education Control in South Kazakhstan region ", said Murat Zhumanbay.

According to him, if in the past year 97 criminal cases were filed by the financial police on the facts of bribery, during the first 8 months of this year almost 132 such crimes have already been identified.
