Majilis Speaker meets representatives of Lithuania, USA and Belgium ? participants of ?Modern Kazakhstan and ?Path to Europe? Intl forum

ASTANA. May 20. KAZINFORM Speaker of the Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament Ural Mukhamedzhanov has met with the representatives of Lithuania, the USA and Belgium who arrived in Astana for participation in the International conference on ?Modern Kazakhstan and ?Path to Europe? to be held tomorrow, May 21.
As the press service of the Lower Chamber informs, the parties agreed that tomorrow?s conference would provide new opportunities for building strategic partnership. In particular, Vice Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Algis Kaseta noted that Kazakhstan and Lithuania had common economic and political projects. ?The forthcoming chairmanship of Kazakhstan in the OSCE will allow getting insight of Kazakhstan?s experience and expanding bilateral contacts with main strategic partner in the Central Asian region?, he stressed.
According to ex-Deputy of the US Congress, Head of the Institute for New Democracies Lawrense DeNardis, ?Kazakhstan?s history beginning from 1991 based on long-term strategy is wonderful?. ?And the world community is grateful to Kazakhstan for such development. Kazakhstan is the first Asian country to chair to the OSCE. We are ready to help Kazakhstan in elaboration of the agenda of its work in this Organization. Tomorrow?s conference is an important step in this direction?, the American guest added.
Vice President of the PACE, Deputy of the Senate of Belgium Paul Ville expressed hope and confidence that Kazakhstan would not have to wait long for gaining an observer status in this Organization. The Parliamentarian drew the meeting participants? attention to the fact that Kazakhstan and Belgium had a good history of cooperation which on his opinion should be especially developed in ecology.
In turn, Majilis Speaker U. Mukhamedzhanov noted that responses to the invitation to participate in the forum demonstrate the countries? wishes for cooperation and interaction.
