Maikainzoloto JSC suspends mining operation after accident that killed 2
The search and rescue efforts for two passengers of the bus that fell under the ground as a result of the sinkhole occurred at the Maikainzoloto mine are ongoing in Pavlodar region, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
After the sinkhole, a total of 33 people were evacuated from the mine within the Maikainzoloto JSC territory. There were a driver and three rescuers on the bus that plunged into the sinkhole.
The Maikainzoloto JSC has suspended the operation at its mines, except for their maintenance works. The enterprise’s administrative unit and concentrating mill continue their operations, reads the press service of the region’s administration.
Notably, two people died and two are missing as a result of the fall of the bus into the sinkhole at the Maikainzoloto mine in Pavlodar region at night on January 4.
An investigation into the accident has been launched.
