M6.4 quake jolts off coast of NE Japan

TOKYO. March 27. KAZINFORM An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale jolted the sea off Iwate Prefecture in northeastern Japan on Tuesday, said the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

There was no immediate report of damage or casualties from the 08:00 p.m. (1100 GMT) quake. No tsunami warning was issued.
The epicenter of the quake was estimated to be 10 kilometers under the sea off the coast of Iwate Prefecture.
Tremors were most felt in the prefecture, and its neighboring prefecture Miyagi. Parts of the northernmost Hokkaido Prefecture were also affected.
