Lukashenko's visit to Pakistan postponed due to his mother's death

MINSK. KAZINFORM - The official visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to Pakistan has been postponed for two days due to the death of his mother, Spokesperson for the Belarusian President Natalia Eismont told the Belarus 1 TV Channel on 26 May, BelTA has learned.

"The visit of the head of state to Pakistan is postponed. It is expected to take place on 28-29 May. The visit is postponed due to the death of Alexander Lukashenko's mother," the spokesperson said.

"As for the visit's format, it will remain unchanged. In Pakistan the Belarusian President will hold a number of meetings, including with the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan. A big Belarusian delegation has been working in Pakistan for a few days. Ministers, heads of large enterprises and holding companies, state-owned and private firms maintain productive contacts with their colleagues. Alexander Lukashenko's visit to Pakistan will crown these huge efforts," Natalia Eismont said.

"We know that the President of Belarus is expected in Pakistan. We are grateful to the host country for understanding and the opportunity to reschedule negotiations," the spokesperson added.

The Belarusian head of state was expected to pay an official visit to Pakistan on 26-27 May. The program of the visit includes negotiations with President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister of this country Nawaz Sharif, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Sardar Sadiq. As part of the visit the sides are expected to sign a number of bilateral documents, BelTA reports.
