Lufthansa and Airbus shares plunge after report of plane crash

PARIS. KAZINFORM - Shortly after 6:30 a.m. ET, reports crossed that an Airbus A380 operated by GermanWings crashed in the Digne region of southern France, according to Business Insider

According to local French paper La Provence, the flight had 142 passengers, 2 pilots, and 4 crew members.

GermanWings is the budget airline subsidiary of Lufthansa. Lufthansa shares went from $14.06 to as low as $13.33 within minutes. This is a 5.2% drop.
Immediately, Airbus shares plunged. The stock went from around $60.70 to as low as $58.52, a 3.6% plunge in a matter of minutes.
"We are aware of the media reports," Airbus said in a tweet. "All efforts are now going towards assessing the situation. We will provide further information as soon as available."
