London 2012: Test day for Olympic torch relay

Roads will be closed along the route  as Games organiser Locog traces the journey the torch will make on 3 July.

The rehearsal will test the convoy, crew and communication procedures of the relay which starts on 19 May, BBC informed.

People have been warned to expect disruption and are not being encouraged to line the streets.

A total of 122 people from the local area, including students, will act as torchbearers and each carry unlit torches on 300m sections of the route.

They will be joined by a convoy of 14 cars and trucks, and up to a further 90 vehicles for sponsors, support teams and the BBC, as well as a crew of 400 people.

The torchbearers leave the National Space Centre in Leicester at 07:12 BST and will travel by steam train on the Great Central Railway and Nene Valley Railway and simulate the torch being passed between two boats, a Warrior and a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB), on Rutland Water.

The convoy will pass through Quorn, Loughborough, Hoton, Wymeswold, Asfordby, Melton Mowbray, Langham, Oakham, Uppingham and Stamford before ending the day in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.
