Lightning kills 120 Cambodians since early 2011

PHNOM PENH. August 1. KAZINFORM At least 120 Cambodians have been killed by lightning since early this year, Keo Vy, chief of the Cabinet of National Committee for Disaster Management, said Monday. Kazinform refers to Xinhua.

He said the number of deaths is higher than the whole year in 2010 which recorded at 114.

Keo Vy also said that lightning normally will stop by October, the end of the rainy season.

In addition to the loss in human lives, 91 others were injured, while 48 heads of cows and buffaloes were also killed, according to him.

Lightning occurs every year in Cambodia, especially, in rainy season which begins from May through October.
