Librarians from 174 countries to convene in Kazakh capital
The World Library and Information Congress (IFLA) will take place in the Kazakh capital, Kazinform News Agency learnt from the Qazaq Tourism.

The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) selected Astana to host the Congress next August 18-22.
It will be the first-ever large event in Central Asia to reinforce the IFLA’s role in developing the international library field. The meeting in Astana will provide an exceptional opportunity to explore Kazakhstan's rich, history, culture and traditions.
The annual international event brings together librarians from all over the world to exchange practices and discuss new information technologies and achievements of librarians.
The IFLA is a non-governmental and not-for-profit organization. It was founded in Scotland in 1927 with headquarters at the National Library of the Netherlands in The Hague. It accumulates and analyzes the best practices in libraries and focuses on standards for library services and bibliographic processing.
