Lebedev: CIS might adopt the best of Eurasian Economic Union

MINSK. KAZINFORM The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) might use the best practices of the future Eurasian Economic Union, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev told reporters on 27 May, BelTA has learnt.

He reiterated that the CIS served as a foundation for establishing the Eurasian Economic Union. "Fruitful cooperation and teamwork in the economic field of the Commonwealth encouraged some member states to deepen their cooperation that will soon culminate in the signing of this important treaty. Therefore, we at the CIS Executive Committee welcome this treaty as a step towards closer integration. If everything goes as planned, the Commonwealth of Independent States will be able to adopt the best practices of the Eurasian Economic Union," Sergei Lebedev said, BelTA reports.

He emphasized: "If the Eurasian Economic Union turns out to the efficient, we will not have to convince anyone that we need closer integration".
