A project on establishment of the second and third generation photovoltaic solar cells study is implemented at Nazarbayev University. The project will allow to create thin-film modules and lab samples of solar cell batteries.

Thus, a laboratory scientific and technical base for a complex of measurements of solar cells or solar cell batteries of the second and third generations is planned to be formed.

The viability of the project is that Kazakhstan has great number of solar hours, in average, about 2200-3000 solar hours per year. For example, such countries as Germany, Norway, Great Britain and Japan have only 1000 hours a year.

Implementation of this project will result in creation of sample solar cell batteries and develop photovoltaic to a new level in Kazakhstan. The project is implemented at the Center for Energy Research at Nazarbayev University.
