KZT 11.5 bln of investment injected in Kazakh chemical industry in 2011
A record number of investment funds over the past five years was drawn into the country's chemical industry in 2009 (more than KZT 31.5 billion). In 2010, investment in the industry amounted to KZT 21.5 billion, including about 14 percent of foreign investment.
The chemical industry is included in the list of priority sectors within the framework of Productivity 2020 Program. There are about 44 enterprises producing chemical products in Kazakhstan. 85 percent of the enterprises are engaged in production of fertilizers, nitrogen compounds, plastics and synthetic rubber in primary forms. The major consumers of Kazakh chemical products are foreign countries - 78 percent, the rest 22 percent are CIS countries.
