Kyrgyzstan to showcase two films at Marché du Film in Cannes

From May 12 to 18, 2026, a Kyrgyz delegation will take part in the Marché du Film, the world’s largest film market, held alongside the Cannes Film Festival, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing Kabar.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Kyrgyzstan is set to present a national stand titled “Kyrgyz Cinema,” highlighting the country’s growing film industry and opportunities for international collaboration.

The delegation is expected to hold meetings with producers, distributors, and festival program directors from across Asia and Europe, with a focus on co-production projects and expanding the global distribution of Kyrgyz films.

This year’s participation is especially significant as it coincides with the 85th anniversary of Kyrgyz cinema and a broader emphasis on Asian films within the Marché du Film program. Discussions will also cover the development of TV series production and the preservation of the legacy of the Kyrgyz Keremeti (Kyrgyz miracle) era,

Two feature films: Kara Kyzyl Sary (Black, Red, Yellow), directed by Aktan Arym Kubat, and Buyruk (Order), directed by Dastan Madalbekov.

In addition, UmutDoc has been selected for the Cannes Docs program, opening new opportunities for collaboration with the global film industry.

Earlier, Qazinform reported that the jury for the 79th Cannes Film Festival had been announced.
