Kyrgyzstan, OPEC Fund discuss major joint projects

Kyrgyzstan and the OPEC Fund for International Development have discussed expanding cooperation on a range of strategic infrastructure and development projects, including energy, transport, agriculture, and irrigation initiatives, Qazinform News Agency cites Kabar.

The discussions took place during the Islamic Development Bank Group's Annual Meeting in Baku, where Kyrgyz Finance Minister Ruslan Suinaliev met with Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, Director General of the OPEC Fund.

According to the Ministry of Finance, both sides reviewed opportunities for further collaboration and potential financing for several priority projects in transport infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and irrigation.

The meeting focused on the Kambarata-1 HPP construction project, the National Irrigation Investment Program, the reconstruction of the Bishkek-Torugart highway on the Kant-Tokmok-Chym-Korgon section, as well as private sector support mechanisms and budget development programs.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation and maintaining dialogue on the implementation of joint projects.

Earlier, Qazinform reported the World Bank grants 50 million US dollars to Kyrgyzstan.
