Kyrgyzstan discusses accession to Customs Union
Thus it was noted that the share of CU countries in Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover made 40.9% (28.5% - Russia, 10.7% - Kazakhstan and 1.7%- Belarus). Export makes 22.7% and import - 49.5%.
The experts of the Ministry say the share of the country's import from the CU countries is 4.5 times higher compared to export.
In accordance with the Governmental instruction as of February 26, 2010, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Economic Development has conducted a preliminary analysis of the national legislation, the international treaties regulating foreign trade activity and their compliance with the CU contractual legal framework. As a result, 37 CU documents have been revised, 25 out of which only conform to the national legislation and the country's international treaties. 12 documents need corrections.
Besides, in case of Kyrgyzstan's accession to the Custom Union, the country will need to negotiate the issue regarding changing its commitments to the WTO on customs tariffs which differ from the CU single customs tariff with the Organization's member countries.
