Kyrgyz opposition leader drowns in Cuba

BISHKEK. May 4. KAZINFORM Mukhtarbek Omurakunov, a leader of the Kyrgyzstan opposition party Zamandash (Contemporary), drowned while vacationing in Cuba, officials said Wednesday; Kazinform refers to Xinhua.
Omurakunov was on a Cuban beach when a huge wave, reportedly three meter high, surged ashore.
"He died in hospital. Large waves were observed at other beaches, causing the death of nine other people, mostly residents of European countries," a Kyrgyz press secretary told Cuba's 24.kg news agency; Kazinform cites Xinhua.
