KTZ, EBRD sign Memo of mutual understanding

ASTANA. June 12. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) National Company and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) agreed on joint activity in the sphere of the country?s railway sector reforming for competitive growth; Kazinform reports.

The Memorandum of mutual understanding was signed by EBRD President Thomas Mirow and KTZ President Askar Mamin. It will promote further development, financing and implementation of the Railways Reforming Strategy for 2009-2014, which is elaborated by the company. The EBRD and KTZ will conduct joint work to deliniate the priority projects to ensure efficient, strong corporate governance and transparency, improve rules and tariffs and stimulate competition in the sector of freight transportation. ?The EBRD determined improvement of the railway sector as one of the priorities for Kazakhstan, because it is a key to disclosure of the full economic potential, efficient and continuous growth ?, T.Mirow said.
