Kremlin continues preparations for Mideast conference in Moscow

MOSCOW. June 23. KAZINFORM The Moscow conference on the Middle East is unlikely to take place before the end of the year, but the proposal to hold it remains in effect, a Kremlin official said on Monday; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.

He said the conference will be a success if proves substantive, not formal.
"Our proposal remains on the table. We do not time the conference to coincide with any internal political events," the official said.
"We need a conference that would become a real step forward in the Middle East settlement when all of the parties are ready for it," he added.
"I believe that it will not take place this year," the official said. "The idea remains. We are not exerting pressure, but we are continuing consultations calmly and consistently, and studying the opinions of the parties," he said; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
